Elections USA Nov 2004
November 05, 2004 Dov to SA in the USA
SA, nice to have e- from you. I take it that's your gentle way of expressing reaction to the election.
I was definitely not surprised at the results and even expected it, especially when I saw on TV an appearance of Clinton and Kerry together. It hit me then how much more Bush and Clinton have in common than Kerry and Clinton. Not in policies/values/etc., but in appearance/conduct, which for many voters sets the "trust/reliability" grade. The common voter prefers a simple natural direct expression-conduct and an Alexander's-sword-type decision and suspects or mistrusts verbiage and hesitating bearing.
But it is impossible to predict how things will turn out. If we understand something about life it is especially that it evolves often surprisingly in completely unexpected directions, so who can predict how things might develop or how they might have developed otherwise ?
Best regards, Dov.
